Putting it Together

As the building is unloaded it should be placed in and around the building site near the place Laying it out where it will be used.

These buildings are just what I was looking for.  They’re easy to put up – I’ve done 4 of them by myself.  They’re ‘hell for stout, for one thing’, and they’re just a great buy for the price.  – storage buildings owner, Eureka, Mt.

1. Legs should be placed in position for raising.

2. Beams should be stacked for assembly and easily accessible for erection.

3 Girts and Perlins should be divided accordingly per bay for easy access.

4. Endwalls should be laid out for each end.

5. Metal panels and other components should be stored out of the way on boards and protected from the weather.

Once the components are laid out you are ready to begin.

1. Install knee braces on center(sidewall) legs. Clamps with 5/8” bolts go in the crotch of the knee brace and clamps with the ½” bolts go on the outside edge.

2. Install special blocks on legs after clamps have been installed. (special blocks have been notched to fit over clamps. They should maintain the same spacing as blocks already installed on legs. The top block will be shorter for the eave box to sit on.)

Knee braces are attached to Leg Columns on the ground before they are lifted into place.

3. 5/8” holes must be drilled in the bottom of each leg for the thru bolt. Measure the distance that the j‐bolts( in the slab) are from the edge. Using this dimension and the height of the hole in the anchor shoe, mark the leg on both sides and drill the hole.

4. Now stand the legs and install the bolt through the leg.

5. Next stand the corner legs and the endwall legs. (note: make sure the angle in the center of the corner legs is pointing up.)

6. Brace corner legs, and make sure all legs are centered correctly according to the layout provided.

7. Install precut wall girts into corresponding notches on the legs. Girts should fit tightly into place and flush with the outside of each leg. Toe nail three 16d nails into each end of each perlin. Note: girts are different lengths on the endwalls, make sure to use correct girts in each bay.

Foundation is installed. our pole barn kits can be erected on any type of foundation. J‐bolts provided by us, are installed in the concrete
according to the Bolt plan provided by our pole barn kits engineering staff.

Engineered Leg Columns are stood and attached to foundation with anchor shoes.

8. Once all of the girts have been installed you are ready to assemble the beams.

9. It is best to assemble the beams on as level a place as possible. If possible the best place is on the slab. Lay out the two halves of the beams as shown in the diagram. Measure the distance from one end to the other. The distance should be slightly less than the overall width of the building.

After all columns are stood and girts are in place the Beams are assembled on the ground.

Install collar ties on the beams using an impact wrench and pre drilling each hole. Nail or staple peak gusset into place. Stack each assembly on top of the one before before. You will bolt the other side and install the peak gusset by lifting each truss over with the crane or lift.

10. Once all beams are bolted and peak gussets installed on one side you are ready for the crane, or extended boom lift. Lift each truss up enough to install bolts on the other side of the collar ties, and install the other peak gusset. Make sure and install the peak gusset filler. Now lift the truss into place and set it into the notches in the legs. Have clamps ready to bolt beams down to the knee braces.

Beams are then lifted into place with a crane, extended boom lift or similar lift system. Beams are bolted to legs using clamps provided.

11. Install Perlins in each bay as you go. Install endwall beams. Perlins should fit snug in the notches on the beam.

12. After all girts and perlins are installed it is time to “rack” the building. This is basically making the frame square, level, and plumb. Use string lines along the bottom of the walls and along the top to make sure the building is straight and plumb.

Add openings for windows and doors. Doors and windows can be placed anywhere between columns on the sidewall or endwall. Doors and windows should be installed before the siding is installed

Frame is now ready for roofing and siding material of your choice. Our Buildings are designed to receive any type of siding or roofing.

It is that simple, Once you have the frame in place and the building is square, you can start to add you rood and sides.
